The University of Auckland and E4E
Currently The University of Auckland E4E staff is undertaking, and collaborating on, the following projects:
• mapping current New Zealand medical educational curricula and contexts
• creation of literature review describing existing educational approaches and the contexts in which the study is being undertaken
• conducting original research to evaluate approaches to health professional education:
o Interviewing Indigenous health curriculum developers to identify the specific approaches used and the reasons underlying their use.
o Conducting focus groups with learners, educators, patients and other stakeholders to study the impact of different educational approaches
• development of an Indigenous chronic disease education ‘toolkit’ and methods to evaluate the effectiveness of Indigenous health education
• informing the development of interventions that address underlying health professional knowledge, attitudes and behaviours
• communication of research findings and knowledge translation to improve Indigenous health education in a wide range of health professional education settings.
